Something I've never understood is changing the name of a city to suit your language. Like why do English speakers say Florence when the Italians already have beautiful Firenze? Why do we say Prague when Praha would do just fine?
The way languages develop is so weird. Like, "looks like they've already named every single city in their country. Doesn't work for us. We gotta rename them all." 🙈🙈
What do you think? And do you typically call a city by it's "familiar name" or it's local name?
