At an altitude of 4757 feet above sea level and located on Norway’s National Tourist Route, this entrance building designed by Jensen & Skodvin Architects, transformed the existing traditional mountain hut into a year-round destination, especially for national cross country skiing teams from around the world. I wonder how many current Olympians have trained here.

Light is one of the most important elements to define a space and give character to a project — that’s why I love the masterful Pingus Winery by architect Peter Zumthor 📷 darcstudio
My passion for simple and noble materials that have a captivating sense of texture is definitely ignited by this striking staircase / fireplace. Never have American white oak, painted brick, polished concrete and glass looked so inviting and beautiful -- transforming an old London mews house with their luxuriousness and allowing streaming natural light to create a grand effect within.

Ever since I first saw Philip Johnson’s iconic Glass House, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of living purely in nature with no barriers to experience all of its beauty and power! And I’m truly inspired by this example, made entirely of structural glass - where it’s thickness is calibrated to deliver just the right heating and insulation, to retain warmth in the winter and remain cool in the summer. Amazing! 📷 Santambrogio

Courchevel is sometimes called the St. Tropez of winter sports and at the center of it all is the Six Senses Residences Courchevel. With exposed timber beams and a warm cozy palette, this looks like the perfect place to unwind after a long day on the slopes!

Our lobby at One Hudson Yards features a light sculpture comprised of almost 400 hand blown glass pieces that spiral through the space and echo the rich organic qualities and distinctive colors, geometries and materials that we carried with equal commitment throughout the building.

Contemporary design culture in Japan has a sweet spot for totally transparent houses. This residence — with each room on its own level —perfectly fits that bill!

Hand made brick, natural wire brushed oak, hand polished concrete and of course an accent of lustrous bronze are some of my favorite materials!

A good winemaker will tell you wine tastes different when you drink it in the region it is produced, and I am convinced the same is true with tea. Since starting our newest project in China, I am obsessed with really good tea, especially Pu’er, a delicious fermented varietal from Yunnan province. Thinking about my next cup...

Architecture and its expression are deeply rooted in a sense of place and so we are very excited to bring our sensibility to yet another new country! Our latest project, in Saudi Arabia, is well underway. Stay tuned for renderings of a luxury residential tower, designed to showcase clean, contemporary and organic elegance, adding to the skyline of modern skyscrapers in the city of Al Khobar.

This is a close-up photo of our cast concrete facade at 75 Kenmare, our ground up condominium in Nolita. The exterior walls are patterned in a random stagger of three different vertical “flute” dimensions — at 1-1/2” , 2” and 2-1/2” wide, each set in its own plane. As daylight cascades across this highly textured skin, a stunning play of dimension, shade and shadow unfolds across the facade.

Our design for this 32,000-square-foot open-plan office atop one of Frank Gehry’s earliest buildings features vistas over landscaped terraces and an invigorating skylight framing an informal living room and glass conference rooms. Social spaces are designed to encourage interaction and dialogue, amidst a simple palette of natural and elegant materials. This contemporary office optimizes productivity, collaboration and wellness.

Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue is a 2,500-square-foot restaurant we designed on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and features a rippled glass wall and custom millwork with shimmering hand-crafted metal inserts. It is sumptuously appointed with vintage velvet, silk and gold leaf, and features and a custom chandelier. This design brings Saks’ brand to life in an entirely new expression, creating an elegant and inviting environment.

On a site visit to our building One Hudson Yards, I am excited to see the progress of Vessel, created by London-based designer Thomas Heatherwick. Constructed of a structural painted steel frame, with its underside surfaces covered by a polished copper-colored steel skin, Vessel, will offer our residents and the public a mile’s worth of pathways with 154 interconnecting flights of stairs and 80 landings rising above Hudson Yards--truly a worthy centerpiece for this public square!

Our design for Kitchen 1540, an 8,000 square foot indoor outdoor coastal California restaurant, offers a relaxed, sophisticated ambiance. The interior features dramatic vaults, an illuminated alabaster bar, an open kitchen, fireside seating, and a signature wine cellar. Pale green, gold, and blue jewel tones of the Pacific horizon are echoed in chandeliers, glass tiles, fabrics, and photography. This sensibility flows seamlessly into the lush garden, a spectacular exterior room with a waterfall, open flame, and lantern-festooned trees.

We designed 97 Mid Ocean with a dramatic focal point of the first level – an expansive outdoor deck, poised above the grassy dunes and offering direct ocean views from the trellised open-air dining pavilion, bar and kitchen, as well as a fire pit with seating area and multiple landscaped lounging areas.

Traveling to a site visit this morning I was treated to this incredible perspective of Frank Gehry’s IAC Building and Jean Nouvel’s 100 Eleventh Avenue. I love the dynamic interplay of the two from the street level.

I love the creative energy of Shanghai and in particular the West Bund / M50 Art District, where A+ Contemporary gallery features a beautiful solo exhibition by Chinese artist Zheng Wenxin. “Pieces of Moments” translates activities from the social media screen onto traditional canvas with airy blocks of beautiful color and blurring harmonious strokes, and offer a fresh and compelling vision of reality dimension that made me stop, take notice, and ponder with the greatest of pleasure!
